COLOGNE, Germany – James Spader‘s The Blacklist is coming in on top of the must-have list of global TV program buyers, with Sony Pictures Television closing sales in more than 150 territories worldwide for the new NBC crime thriller.
European TV network giants, including Germany’s RTL and TF1 in France, as well as pay TV channels, such as BSkyB’s Sky Living in the U.K., have snatched up The Blacklist, which stars Spader as a wanted fugitive who joins forces with the FBI to catch terrorists.
There is also plenty of buyer buzz around Masters of Sex, the period drama starring Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as pioneering sexuality researchers Masters and Johnson, which Showtime will air in the U.S. and which Sony is selling worldwide. Channel 4 in the U.K., Germany’s Sky Deutschland and Orange in France are among the global buyers for the show, which Sony said has sold out in some 150 territories.
Another strong seller for Sony is mid-season legal drama Rake, which stars Greg Kinnear as self-destructive attorney who gets by on charm alone. Sony on Monday confirmed sales in several major territories, including Canada, Australia, South Africa and Brazil.
