ELK GROVE-

The boyfriend of a murdered Elk Grove mother is now wanted in connection with her death. Marissa Pineda De Almanza was found dead inside her Franklin Boulevard apartment back on November 5.

Almanza and mosesFOX40 has learned police have a warrant out for the arrest of Almanza’s boyfriend, 38-year-old Moses Valdez, for her murder. Valdez has not been seen since Almanza’s death, and Elk Grove Police are looking for him.

If he is convicted in Almanza’s death, it would be his third strike, and he could go to prison for life.

Court records show Valdez has a criminal past. He was convicted of shooting and killing 19-year-old Christopher Dominguez and 24-year-old Christopher Jimenez back in 1993, reportedly over a girl. Valdez was paroled early, but was sent back to serve a 25-year sentence for his third strike, for allegedly running from the cops. He was released in August 2014 under Prop 36, since his third strike wasn’t violent.

He was assigned Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS) in accordance with Assembly Bill 109.

Almanza had two children; a teenager and a pre-teen. Investigators said neither was home at the time of Almanza’s death. They have not released any further details about the night she died.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Moses Valdez is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Detective Bureau at (916) 478-8060 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (443-4357). Callers to Crime Alert can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00.
