BUENOS AIRES – The Producers Guild of America signed a memorandum of understanding with its Brazilian counterpart SICAV (Interstate Association of the Audiovisual Industry), Thursday at the RioMarket, the industry sidebar of the ongoing Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival.
“The agreement is a first step in a working relationship and greater cooperation between Brazilian and US producers,” Deborah Callo, chair of the PGA’s Diversity Committee, tells The Hollywood Reporter.
The deal will help the two organizations create opportunities for meetings and communication among producers in both countries.

“We will also provide recommendations and contacts for producers and production companies for production services,” Callo says.
As a first move, both the SICAV and PGA will send official delegations to its counterpart’s country to conduct meetings, seminars, and other instructive opportunities for its members.
“We look forward to a close collaboration with our Brazilian colleagues in exploring ways we can work together in our increasingly global industry,” says Stu Levy, PGA’s International Committee chair.
SICAV president Silvio Rabello adds: “signing this MOU is the first milestone of the partnership between SICAV and PGA, an excellent opportunity for new business deals between Brazilian and American audiovisual producers as a way to exchange information and know-how among both institutions”.
Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival closes on Oct. 9.
