CANNES – Treasure-hunting Discovery Europe has acquired Fool’s Gold from Canadian factual TV producer 11 Television Canada.
The comic take on cut-throat gold mining is shooting in Fort Frances, Ontario as the doc series gets set to air in 2014 on Discovery Canada, and across Europe and Africa on Discovery Europe.
“Gold is serious business, and Discovery’s gold-themed programming has been a huge hit with our viewers over the past few seasons,” said Edwina Follows, director of commissioning and production at Discovery Canada on Sunday.
The 8-part half-hour series follows Todd Ryznar and childhood friends hitting the mother lode in an abandoned gold mine.
