Fox led the broadcast networks on Wednesday night with a steady episode of MasterChef. The two-hour competition matched its premiere returns with a 2.2 rating among adults 18-49 and 5.4 million viewers.
NBC hit a Wednesday high with Dateline (1.6 adults), up two-tenths of a point from last week. At 9 p.m., the special Healing in the Heartland brought in a 1.9 rating among adults 18-49 and 8.6 million viewers — the night’s largest audience. Adding an encore of Chicago Fire, the network averaged a 1.5 rating in the key demo and 6.5 million viewers.
The burn-off of Family Tools (1.0 adults) and How to Live With Your Parents (1.3 adults) saw both ABC comedies drop to series lows. At 10 p.m., the debut of Nightline: The Lookout (1.1 adults) opened a tenth of a point north of last summer’s comparable outing, Final Witness. ABC averaged a 1.1 rating with adults 18-49 and 4.1 million viewers.
American Baking Competition (1.0 adults) debuted low on CBS, coming in a tenth of a point shy of Tuesday launch, Brooklyn DA, and three-tenths of a point shy of last summer’s Dogs in the City premiere. The network averaged a 1.0 rating with adults 18-49 and 5.7 million viewers.
Encores earned the CW a 0.4 rating with adults 18-49 and 1.3 million viewers.
Univision averaged a 1.4 rating with adults 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers.
