Universal Cable Productions has promoted Mark Binke.
The executive has been upped from senior vp, cable and digital productions at Universal Television/Cable & Digital Productions to executive vp production at UCP. He’ll report to George Cheeks, who has executive oversight of TV production operations at UCP, Universal Television and NBC Entertainment.
Binke has been a key player for UCP across the NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group as well as third-party networks, co-productions and original digital content. In his new role, he’ll continue leading the production executive and operations of series that shoot in various locations in the U.S., North America and overseas. He’ll keep abreast on both domestic and international tax incentive locales as well as oversee the management of facilities and vendor deals and guiding union contract negotiations.
“Mark has been an integral and versatile player in the success of our cable and digital productions and is highly regarded for his keen business knowledge and foresight,” Cheeks said. “This well-deserved promotion will allow him to expand his contributions to our growing and vital cable portfolio.”
Binke, who began his career as a producer and director of specials and series on NBC, Fox, ABC, ESPN and MTV, is a former senior vp production at UMS. Before that, he was senior vp production and alternative program development at USA Cable Entertainment. He’s a former member of the NBCUniversal Diversity Council.
