Elk Grove nonprofits and projects like curb ramps and the city’s transitional housing program will get thousands more dollars than planned.

City staff expected to have less federal community grant funding available, but ended up with more cash than planned; staff also scrounged up money that hadn’t been used or was stuck in slow-moving projects.

At Wednesday’s Elk Grove City Council meeting, a plan was approved to distribute the extra $246,000.

“It’s nice that you found another pot of gold,” Vice Mayor Steve Detrick said.
