Bravo is taking another crack at scripted programming.
The NBCUniversal-owned cable network said Tuesday that it has ordered to pilot Marti Noxon‘s Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce.
The hourlong dramedy becomes the third scripted entry to receive a pilot order at the network following Rita and The Joneses. Of the two, only Rita was cast and produced before Bravo opted to not move forward with the project starring Breaking Bad‘s Anna Gunn.

Divorce is based on the book series by executive producer Vicki Iovine. It follows a best-selling author of a self-help book series who is secretly hiding her separation from her husband as she starts to navigate her life as a single woman in her 40s in Los Angeles. She starts to side with and take advice more from her divorced friends rather than her married ones, and it leads her to some unexpected and life-changing experiences.
Buffy alum Noxon will pen the pilot, with Dawn Olmstead, Iovine and Meryl Poster on board to executive produce the Universal Cable Productions vehicle that originally was developed for Showtime as a half-hour vehicle.
“The funny, frank and fabulous tone of Vicki’s books provide a perfect jumping-off place for the show,” Noxon said. “I love Bravo and look forward to creating a great ‘second marriage’ with them!”
Divorce is one of three new scripted projects Bravo put into its development pipeline in April. It joins a Heathers reboot and more at the network.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Marti Noxon on this project,” said Andrew Wang, vp scripted development and production at Bravo. “Marti’s incredible talent and unique perspective shine through in this compelling exploration of a modern woman’s journey through divorce and the next chapter of her life.”
For Noxon, Divorce marks her latest pilot order. She also is prepping Unreal for Lifetime and is developing Proof with M. Night Shyamalan at Syfy.
