Annual Meeting 2008: Poster Sessions and New Formats

AHA Staff | Jan 31, 2007

The February 15th deadline for submitting a proposal for the 2008 Annual Meeting in Washington D.C. is fast approaching, and the Program Committee would like to encourage would-be participants to consider the new session formats developed over the past two years. These formats include: the poster session, discussion/roundtables, precirculated paper sessions, workshops, and experimental sessions (for definitions of these formats see this Perspectives article).

The Program Committee would particularly like to emphasize the poster session, which encourages extensive, focused discussions between presenters and individuals viewing the posters. The poster session environment allows presenters to interact with large numbers of people on issues related to research or teaching. This type of session is particularly suited to those using visual material or statistical analysis or those who wish to present on pedagogical issues.

Please consider all of the new formats when submitting a proposal for the 2008 Annual Meeting. Visit the proposal page for information on the meeting’s theme, and for instructions on the submission process.
