It’s about to get bloody on The Originals.
The CW has released eight new character posters for The Vampire Diaries spinoff, premiering after the flagship series on Oct. 3, which The Hollywood Reporter exclusively debuts. If they’re any indication of what’s to come, things aren’t looking good for the people of New Orleans.
Forget taglines. The individual posters — all in a dark red (blood-fused) hue — focus solely on the core characters of the The Originals, led by Klaus (Joseph Morgan), his former protege Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and members of the Original family, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt). Other characters receiving their own one-sheets: Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), Sophie (Daniela Pineda), Davina (Danielle Campbell) and Camille (Leah Pipes). Is this a hint that The Originals will be even more deadly than Vampire Diaries?

Executive producer Julie Plec called The Originals more adult than The Vampire Diaries, whose characters are entering college in the new season.
“This is a show that is not about struggling to be a vampire, it’s about embracing vampirism and it’s about reveling in it,” she said at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in late July. “It’s about the family community and the supernatural community of an entire city. We’ve graduated high school and went to college, and they’re getting their masters degree on The Originals.”

The Originals premieres Oct. 3 at 9 p.m. on The CW.
