Tina Brown’s Daily Beast definitely will have the glamour table at the upcoming White House Correspondents Dinner, as it has managed to enlist this year’s biggest star, Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman.
D.C. sophisticates like to sniff and call the annual dinner “the nerd prom,” but there’s been a palpable sense of disappointment around the capitol this month about the lack of star wattage attending this year’s event, which some have complained is long on executives and behind-the-cameras types and short on celebrities. Still, a number of other stars lately have accepted invitations — and there always are surprise guests.
