Sunday Night Football saw modest improvement without the World Series to contend with, inching up a tenth of a point in Fast National returns to an average 5.7 rating among adults 18-49. NBC took a 4.6 rating with adults 18-49 and 12.6 million viewers for the night.
A bigger football draw, however, was on CBS. Strong overrun (6.6 adults) skewed the night’s programming by about an hour — leaving final returns subject to change. But early returns have 60 Minutes (3.2 adults), The Amazing Race (2.0 adults) and The Good Wife (1.6 adults) all up from last week. CBS took a 3.3 rating with adults 18-49 and 14.4 million viewers for the night.
Fox topped in nonsports for the night. A Bob’s Burgers repeat (1.6 adults) and special Simpsons tribute to the late Marcia Wallace (1.4 adults) started the night before a new Simpsons (2.5 adults) posted the night’s strongest scripted returns — losing half of a point from its last showing. Bob’s Burgers (1.8 adults) was only off a tenth from its last episode, while Family Guy (2.5 adults) held steady and American Dad (1.9 adults) dropped two-tenths. The network pulled a 1.9 adults rating and 4.3 million viewers for the night.
ABC saw an even America’s Funniest Home Videos (1.4 adults) lead in to lifted episodes of Once Upon a Time (2.3 adults, up a tenth) and Revenge (1.7 adults, up three-tenths). Betrayal (1.0 adults) was also up a tenth of a point. The network took a 1.6 rating with adults 18-49 and 6.1 million viewers.
