Ben Affleck was one of many in Hollywood with ties to Boston who hit social media Monday to weigh in on the bombing that killed three people and wounded at least 144 others at the city’s marathon.
Affleck, who grew up there and set his films The Town and Gone Baby Gone in the city, reacted on his Facebook page.

“Such a senseless and tragic day,” he wrote. “My family and I send our love to our beloved and resilient Boston.”
The Mindy Project star Mindy Kaling, a Boston native, tweeted: “My heart aches for my hometown.”
The Office’s John Kraskinski, who grew up in the suburb of Newton, tweeted: “My heart and my prayers are in Boston and with everyone affected by this nightmare of an incident.”
Dancing With the Stars host Tom Bergeron opened Monday night’s show alongside Brooke Burke with a message to the victims and their families, saying their “thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Boston tonight.”
Bergeron — who grew up in Haverhill, Mass., and has family and friends in Boston — also tweeted: “In contact with family members in Boston near Marathon site. All OK. Thoughts are with everyone touched by this nightmare.”

Dane Cook, who grew up in Boston suburb, Arlington, also hit Twitter.
“My prayers with everyone in Boston right now after this atrocious act of violence!!” he wrote.
Model Gisele Bundchen, whose husband Tom Brady is quarterback for the New England Patriots, also reacted on Twitter.
“My thoughts and prayers to everyone in Boston #prayforboston,” she wrote.
Sudbury, Mass., native Chris Evans tweeted: “thoughts and prayers are with everybody in boston. heartbreaking…”
Bostonian Maria Menounos tweeted that she was “flying home because I need to be there.”
She added: “keep getting overwhelmed w/tears. the photos are devastating. god bless those affected&our first responders. love u boston my heart is w/u all.”
Boston native, Mark Wahlberg tweeted: “Thoughts and prayers with my hometown Boston today.”
Wahlberg was in New York Monday night for the premiere of his new film, Pain and Gain.
“I really didn’t even want to come tonight. I hadn’t really heard much — I spoke to my mom, and most of my family seems to be OK. It’s such a big event, there’s so many people there. It’s horrible man. It’s f—ing disgusting, man. I just — I’m very upset,” he said from the red carpet.
On Tuesday morning, Howard Stern, who went to school at Boston University, said on his radio show: “I don’t know why, I just never think of Boston being victims of some kind of act like this. But we’re not safe anywhere and there’s maniacs running around in our midst and, really, this kind of thing can happen any day, in any city, anywhere. It’s awful.”
