CHP Investigating Fatal Accident in South Sacramento

Just before 6 a.m. CHP responded to an accident on Franklin Boulevard near Bowling Green Elementary School. It’s reported a motorcyclist got into a collision with a truck.

Unfortunately, the motorcyclist did not survive the accident.

At this time, details of the truck that was involved are unknown.

As of 7 a.m. all northbound lanes on Franklin Boulevard are closed between Cuny Avenue and 52nd Avenue while officers investigate the scene.

The lanes were expected to reopen later in the morning.

South Sacramento Strip Mall Fire

Fire investigators are trying to determine what sparked a fire at a single-story strip mall on Fruitridge Road near 66th street.

It’s reported Sacramento Police units spotted the flames and alerted the fire department.

Crews rushed to the scene and were able to put out the fire.

No injuries were reported.

Overnight House Fire in Davis

Firefighters are working to determine what caused a garage fire just after 2:30 a.m. at  a family’s home on El Cemonte Avenue near Cowell Boulevard.

It’s reported paint cans and the gas from the cars caused some explosions, making it difficult for firefighters to quickly put out the flames. However, firefighters are not saying that is what caused the fire.

The fire crept into the home, but did not make it into the bedrooms.

The family of four is reported to be fine, although one of there two cats is missing.
