MODESTO-

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s deputies say an argument at a party attended by both adults and children escalated to two men being shot Saturday evening.

One man later died at the hospital.

Investigators say an SUV stopped in front of the house on Briggs Avenue, near Paradise Road. After an argument, people in the SUV and people at the party exchanged gunfire.

One 18-year-old man from the party was hit, and had non-life-threatening injuries.

The SUV was pulled over soon after at California Avenue and Martin Luther King Drive. One man inside had been shot and was taken to the hospital. He later died.

Investigators are hoping anyone with information will come forward. If you know anything, contact Det. Darwin Hatfield at (209) 525-7100, or call Modesto Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636.
