The dynamics within The Tomorrow People are about to get complicated.
After Stephen (Robbie Amell) and Cara’s (Peyton List) ill-timed kiss in last week’s episode, the aftermath of their hookup will begin to reverberate throughout the core group, especially where leader of the pack — and trained killer — John (Luke Mitchell) is concerned.
In a scene from this week’s episode, which The Hollywood Reporter exclusively debuts here, Stephen contemplates his decisions at the diner as he awaits (more like dreads) John’s impending arrival. Seconds later, Stephen is startled by John’s sudden appearance at the table. “Didn’t mean to scare ya,” John says, smirking at his underling’s reaction.
The reason for the meet-up actually has to do with a breakout that Ultra needs some help capturing, but Stephen tells John that he’s temporarily out of commission as a double agent. Stephen starts to get worked up over his difficulty maintaining balance on both sides.
“I get it, it’s a lot of pressure,” John says. “Our world can be a little … intense, but it’s up to you. You can’t choose your destiny, you can only fulfill it or fail it.” It’s the word “intense” that causes Stephen’s ears to perk up. The paranoia and guilt are starting to get the best of him. Watch the rest of the scene above.
The Tomorrow People airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on The CW.
