SACRAMENTO—

A Navy police office just back from deployment got an unexpected surprise from total strangers Monday night.

“My dad was planning on paying for all the pizzas for the entire family, all the beer, all the everything,” said Navy veteran Jessica Brazier.

Jessica has done much for others in the past six years with the Navy Security Forces, serving around the world as a police officer. But on her first night back home for a visit, someone did something for her.

“I go to pay my bill, I have no bill. They left an amazing tip for the staff. I don’t even know who it was,” said Aaron Brazier, Jessica’s dad.

Perfect strangers had apparently paid for the whole group’s bill as their way of saying thank you to Jessica.

“You can be around your fellow service members all day and you appreciate each other, but there’s nothing like coming home and being appreciated,” Jessica said.

The Navy and Army recently showed its appreciation with achievement medals. Jessica modestly says it’s for her duties in and around the base she protects in Djbouti, Africa.

Her dad was more upfront, talking about Jessica’s cop instincts kicking in.

“She was off-duty when this all happened. So she took this person down, without anyone else being hurt, just an amazing act,” Aaron said.

Jessica says she appreciates being acknowledged for her service.

“It will be paid forward anyway that we can … It makes my job a little bit easier when I do come home and people thank us,” Jessica said.

The family believes an unknown couple paid for the meal.
