Andy Fickman, who last directed the Billy Crystal/Bette Midler comedy Parental Guidance, is attached to direct CBS Films‘ romantic comedy The Exes.
Leonard Goldberg, the veteran producer whose credits includes Fantasy Island and Charlie’s Angels, is producing the project, an adaptation of book The Ex Files by Jane Moore. Kelly Bowe wrote the screenplay.
Exes, according to the company, follows “the ex-girlfriend of a groom, who reluctantly agrees to attend his destination wedding for closure and for friendship. Once there, she finds herself trapped at an island resort with all of the couple’s exes. Old flames are rekindled, new romances are born and complete chaos ensues.”

“It’s a fun and fresh unique perspective within the romantic comedy world,” stated Fickman. “Every time I mention the story to someone they immediately respond with how it relates to their own life, which makes this such a universal experience. Anyone who has loved before has lost before.”
CBS Films’ vp production Mark Ross and creative executive Alex Ginno are overseeing the project.
Fickman’s previous films include You Again, with Kristen Bell and Jamie Lee Curtis, The Game Plan with Dwayne Johnson and She’s the Man, which starred Amanda Bynes and Channing Tatum.
Fickman is repped by WME and Management 360.
