Esquire has named Scarlett Johansson as its Sexiest Woman Alive, making her the first person to win that title twice.
Johansson first received the accolade in 2006.
STORY: Scarlett Johansson Engaged to Journalist Romain Dauriac
After a busy year that included starring in a revival of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on Broadway as well as movies like Don Jon, Under the Skin and the upcoming Her, Johansson is asked in Esquire‘s November issue why she wanted to accept the title of Sexiest Woman Alive with everything else she has going on.
To which she replies, “You know, I gotta hustle. I’m a 28-year-old woman in the movie business, right?” she says. “Pretty soon the roles you’re offered all become mothers. Then they just sort of stop. I have to hedge against that with work — theater, producing, this thing with Esquire.”
She also seems intrigued by being the only woman to win the title twice.

Johansson, who recently became engaged to French journalist Romain Dauriac, talks about how she thinks it’s OK to be jealous.
“Look, I’m with a Frenchman. I think jealousy comes with the territory,” she says. “But I’d rather be with someone who’s a little jealous than someone who’s never jealous. There’s something a little dead fish about them. A little bit depressing. It may not make sense, but you need to feel it a little.
“I didn’t think I was a jealous person,” she adds, “until I started dating my current, my one-and-only. I think maybe in the past I didn’t have the same kind of investment. Not that I liked my partner less, I just wasn’t capable of it or caring that much.”
