Madrid – The works of South Korean director Hong Sang-soo will be in focus at this year’s Gijon Film Festival in the northwestern Spanish city.
Eight of Hong’s films will be shown, and the director will hold a Q&A after each screening, organizers said.
Among those to be shown will be Hahaha and In Another Country. The former won the Prix Un Certain Regard at Cannes in 2010, and the latter competed for a Palme d’Or in 2012. Hong’s Nobody’s Daughter Haewon, also on the list of films to be screened in Gijon, was recently screened in competition at the Berlin Film Festival.
His latest film, Our Sunhi, about a young film school graduate and the three men who fall in love with her, will close the Spanish festival.
Hong won the Silver Leopard award for best director for Our Sunhi at this month’s Locarno International Film Festival in Switzerland.
The remaining films on the roster are The Day A Pig Fell Into the Well, Woman is the Future of Man, Tale of Cinema and Virgin Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors.
The Gijon festival will take place from Nov. 15-23.
