Get On Up, the James Brown biopic starring Chadwick Boseman as the Godfather of Soul, will hit the big screen in fall 2014.
Universal has set an Oct. 17, 2014, release date for the film, which is the follow-up feature for The Help director Tate Taylor.
Boseman portrayed baseball legend Jackie Robinson in the biopic 42, released this past April. Get On Up will follow the life of the performer from his childhood to the prime of his career as a famous singer.
As THR previously noted, the film has been long in development. Producer Brian Grazer had been working on the project since 2001, and names like Wesley Snipes and Eddie Murphy were once floated as the potential lead.
