Visual effects pioneer John Dykstra will receive the Visual Effects Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th Annual VES Awards on Feb. 12 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
Over the course of his work as a visual effects designer, supervisor, innovator and commercial director, Dykstra has won an Emmy and two Academy Awards. He played a key role in assisting with George Lucas‘ company, Industrial Light & Magic, and assembling key Star Wars crew members. This led to the development of benchmark motion-control and bluescreen technologies.
