SACRAMENTO–

Construction on a temporary downtown King’s stadium began Friday morning  ahead of the Sacramento King’s 2nd annual Rhythm and Rim’s event.

The temporary bleachers will hold close to 3,000 people as the King’s play in a scrimmage against each other Sunday.

“We wanted folks to understand that the Kings are a part of this community and that it is important for us to give feedback” said Debbie Gabelich with the Kings.

More than 2,500 people will walk five kilometers Sunday morning to raise money for more than a dozen non-profits. By 10 a.m., ‘Fan Fest’ will begin.

Kings fans are invited to join dozens of activities and live music.

At 11:30 a.m., the players will take to the court, each one of them representing a non-profit organization.

Tickets for the scrimmage are limited and will be given out on a first come, first serve basis Sunday morning at 10 a.m. near 9th Street and Capitol Mall.

Road closures include 8th-10th and N-L. The Kings are expected to be cleared from the area entirely by 6 a.m. Monday morning.
