Breaking Glass Pictures will open Michael Mayer’s Out in the Dark, a gay, romantic thriller, in select theaters on Sept. 27.
The film, in Hebrew and Arabic, tells the story of a Palestinian student, played by Nicholas Jacob, who is having a relationship with an Israeli lawyer, portrayed by Michael Aloni, who won the audience award for best supporting actor at FilmOut San Diego.
Out, which bowed at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival, has won seven audience awards for best picture at festivals around the world.
It will initially open at New York’s Cinema Village and the Laemmle NoHo 7 in Los Angeles, as well as in theaters in Miami, San Diego, Palm Springs, DC and San Francisco, with more cities to follow.
