TORONTO — Don Mancini, the creator of the Chucky movie franchise, is bringing Curse of Chucky to the Fantasia International Film Festival for a world premiere.
The 17th edition of the Montreal genre festival will debut the Fiona Dourif and Brad Dourif-starrer from Child’s Play creator Mancini, which also features Chucky, the pint-sized doll containing the spirit of serial killer Charles Lee Ray.
Fantasia is also giving a world premiere to the Danny Trejo-starrer Zombie Hunter, a horror action movie from director K. King.

And Montreal also booked a world bow for Japanese director Nobuo Mizuta’s The Apology King, which sees Sadao Abe star as an eccentric motivational speaker running the Tokyo Apology Center.
And there’s a North American premiere in Montreal for the Japanese 3D animated feature After School Midnighters.
Director Hitoshi Takekiyo’s spookfest earlier screened at Annecy and Sitges.
STORY: ‘The World’s End’ to Close Fantasia Film Festival
Fantasia programmers earlier announced that Japanese director Takashi Miike’s Shield of Straw (Wara No Tate) will open the festival on July 18.
And they unveiled earlier world premieres for Joe Swanberg’s 24 Exposures, which stars Adam Swingard and Simon Barrett, Robert Morin‘s Les 4 Soldats (The Four Soldiers) and Discopath, comic Renaud Gauthier‘s feature directorial debut.
The Fantasia International Film Festival is set to run from July 18 to August 6.
