TORONTO – Comedy giants Sarah Silverman, Seth Meyers, Eddie Izzard and Joan Rivers are part of the initial talent lineup for Montreal’s Just For Laughs comedy festival in July.
Silverman will host two main stage galas on July 27, while outgoing head Saturday Night Live writer Meyers will host his own gala on July 25 head of his new NBC Late Night gig.
And Queen of comedy Rivers will perform at the July 27 gala in Montreal, after Just For Laughs perennial Izzard will host a July 24 gala to feature international acts, including French comic sensation Gad Elmaleh performing in English.
Elsewhere, SNL’s Taran Killam and Bobby Moynihan, and 30 Rock and Daily Show scene-stealer Kristen Schaal have been booked into the Talk of the Fest showcase at Club Soda from July 23 to 26.

Just For Laughs will also return with a slew of solo shows, including Amy Schumer performing at Metropolis on July 24, while Colin Quinn will bring his Unconstitutional show to the Gesù theater, as will Canadian improv legend Colin Mochrie as he teams up with fellow Whose Line Is It Anyway veteran Brad Sherwood for three nights of Colin & Brad from July 26 to 28.
Hannibal Buress, last year’s JFL rising comedy star award winner, Bo Burnam, of MTV’s Zack Stone Is Going To Be Famous series, and Nick Kroll of Comedy Central’s Kroll Show are also bringing one-man shows to Montreal.
Elsewhere, Danny Bhoy returns to the festival with his new solo show, Dear Epson, Judah Friedlander headlines six shows at the MainLine, while his 30 Rock co-stars Scott Adsit and John Lutz perform in the same venue from July 24 to 27.
Just For Laughs also tapped Shaun Majumder to host The Ethnic Show, Godfrey will host the Date Night: The Relationship Show, and Bobby Slayton and special guest Jimmy Carr will top-line The Nasty Show.
Other hosts: Mike Ward will emcee the new club show Le Bilingual Show, Elon Gold will host The Bar Mitzvah Show, while the Britcom showcase will be hosted by former SNL star Rich Hall.
More talent lineup announcements from the Just For Laughs festival’s English language section from July 10 to 28 will be made in the coming weeks.
