The 24th annual GLAAD Media Awards honored Adam Lambert and the Alan Cumming indie drama Any Day Now during a ceremony in San Francisco Saturday.
Melanie Brown of America’s Got Talent and the Spice Girls presented the Davidson/Valentini Award to Lambert for his work to promote LGBT equality as an openly gay performer.
Lambert and Frank Ocean tied for outstanding music artist, with Lambert honored for his Trespassing and Ocean sharing the win for Channel Orange.
Any Day Now, a 1970s-set drama about a gay couple’s struggle to adopt a boy with Down syndrome, took home the award for outstanding film – limited release. Director Travis Fine and star Isaac Leyva, who plays the boy in the film, were on hand to receive the honor.

The GLAAD Media Awards fund the organization’s work of bringing stories of LGBT people and issues to the U.S. public. The events have raised nearly $3.5 million for the group annually.
Previous legs of this year’s awards were held in New York and Los Angeles, where former President Bill Clinton gave a rousing speech in support of marriage equality.
