CANNES – Germany‘s Beta Film has closed a series of major territory deals for its event mini-series Generation War and Canadian cop drama Cracked.
TVE in Spain and Italy’s public broadcaster RAI have picked up rights to Generation War, a 4 1/2-hour small-screen epic tracing the fate of five friends in Berlin from 1941 till the end of WWII.
The series has already sold wide, with deals in 82 territories including France (Canal Plus) and the U.K. (BBC). Spain’s pay-TV network Canal Plus successfully aired the show earlier this year.
Cracked, which kicked off its second season on Canada’s CBC last week, has sold to NBCUniversal for France and to Germany’s ProSiebenSat.1 group. ProSiebenSat.1 plans to bow the Canuck series on its Sat.1 Emotions digital channel and to add it to the line up of net Kabel 1 starting next year.
