Fresh off of a nine-week run atop the Hot 100 chart and four Grammy nominations, Lorde will set forth on a North American headlining tour beginning in March 2014.
The 16-date run will include back-to-back shows at New York’s Roseland Ballroom (which Lady Gaga is closing out in April) and venues like the 3100-capacity Tower Theatre in Philadelphia. Worth remembering: Lorde’s first performance in North America came just four months ago, in the 700-capacity Le Poisson Rouge in New York.

Also worth noting: Lorde’s upcoming tour essentially rules her out of a South by Southwest festival appearance, but ends right before the glut of festival season (Coachella, for instance, begins on April 12). In the Lorde cover story for Billboard last September, manager Scott Machlachlan said that a first-quarter headlining trek in 2014 would lead directly into summer festival dates.
“Royals,” Lorde’s debut single, has been nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year at the upcoming Grammy Awards. Earlier this month, Lorde released the music video for “Team,” her follow-up single.
