Greg Berlanti has closed a deal to direct Epsilon, a sci-fi action feature project by Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick
Michael DeLuca is producing with Reese and Wernick.

Epsilon is set after a failed robot rebellion on an Earth almost entirely devoid of electronic devices. The remaining robots seek refuge on a space station and begin to raise their own human lab rats, which they train to act as their agents. The main character is a man who discovers he is more human than he thought.
Sony picked up the project as a spec in September, paying in the $1 million range.
Jonathan Kadin is overseeing production for Columbia Pictures.
The deal is a significant one for Berlanti, who is best known as a force in television. He is a showrunner and exec producer behind such shows as Arrow, Brothers & Sisters, No Ordinary Family and Political Animals and has Tomorrow People debuting on The CW this fall.

And while he worked on movies such as Green Lantern and Wrath of the Titans as a writer, his major directorial outing up to this point has been the 2010 dramedy Life As We Know It, which starred Josh Duhamel and Katherine Heigl.
Epsilon, with its large scale and what is sure to be significant visual effects work, will serve as a major step up for Berlanti, who is repped by WME and Felker Toczek.
