“I learned all about special effects having worked on movies in India,” says Priyanka Chopra on the explosion-filled video for her first single “In My City,” the theme song to the 2013 season of the NFL Network’s Thursday Night Football. The show’s video for the song, written by Ester Dean, produced by RedOne and featuring will.i.am, debuts on tonight’s season premiere featuring the New York Jets squaring-off against the New England Patriots.
Chopra, a former Miss India and Miss World who grew-up living all over the world — including Boston and New York — is managed by Desi Hits’ Anjula Acharia Bath and signed to Interscope, Desi Hits and RedOne’s 2101 label. She has just released her second single “Exotic” featuring Pitbull and has a new single planned for November. Her as-of-yet-untitled new album is expected out in 2014.

Now in its eighth season, Thursday Night Football finished last year with a network-high per game average audience of 7.3 million viewers. The show is in competition with NBC’s Sunday Night Football franchise — which also goes for the show’s theme song sung by Carrie Underwood.
“I have seen the song and I think she’s an amazing artist,” Chopra says, “but let’s just see what’s going to be more fun Thursday Night football or Sunday Night Football.”
