HONG KONG – Actor Louis Koo has been appointed ambassador of the 38th Hong Kong International Film Festival.
The lead in Johnnie To and Wai Kar-fai‘s Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, the opening film of the 35th HKIFF, Koo is one of the most sought-after actors in Chinese-language cinema. He has appeared in over 70 films and starred in the work of critically acclaimed directors such as To (Election), Tsui Hark (The Legend of Zu), Benny Chan (The White Storm), and Derek Yee (Triple Tap). He was nominated for Best Actor at the 28th Hong Kong Film Awards, and at the 45th Golden Horse Award for his performance in Sylvia Chang‘s Run Papa Run (2009).

Koo is succeeding Miriam Yeung, who was the ambassador at HKIFF for the previous three editions.
The 38th HKIFF will be held from March 24 to April 7, 2014.
