WOODLAND—

A SWAT team surrounded a Woodland home Saturday evening after a burglar apparently barricaded himself inside.

Officers showed up to the Lincoln Avenue, near Grand Avenue, home just before 7:30 p.m., according to a release from the Woodland Police Department. A resident had called police to report that their home had been ransacked and that a strange man was passed out inside.

First responders surrounded the area and tried to contact the man, but to no avail.

A SWAT unit was then called to the scene after the suspected burglar retreated into the house some more.

Officers were eventually able to end the standoff and take the man inside into custody. He has been identified as 27-year-old Woodland resident Alejandro Hurtado.

Hurtado now faces burglary and resisting arrest charges.
