San Diego, CA (KSWB) — A 14-year-old boy was airlifted out of Mission Trails Regional Park Sunday after a rattlesnake bit his leg, fire officials said.
The boy was hiking with a group of adults and kids at 3:50 p.m. near Clairemont Mesa Boulevand and Rueda Drive when the rattlesnake attacked, according to Joe Amador of San Diego Fire-Rescue Department.
Emergency crews airlifted the teen to Rady Children’s Hospital where he was treated for a bit to his swollen right leg. He was expected to be fine, fire officials said.
There’s a good chance the snake came out of hibernation due to the warm winter weather, Battalion Chief Mike Finnery told Fox 5.
