Paul McCartney performed a 15-song set Monday night on Hollywood Boulevard, mixing three songs from his upcoming New album with Beatles, Wings and solo classics.
His performance presented by Guinness on the shuttered street followed an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in the El Capitan Theater, where he spoke about his first visit to Hollywood, meeting Frank Sinatra at Royal Albert Hall and how he has to avoid being swept up in fans’ emotions while performing.

Kimmel’s questions bounced from topic to topic, though he did get McCartney to say “Carnival of Light” is one possible never-released Beatles recording that could come out. He called it “very far out” and possibly too long, clocking in at 15 minutes.
On Hollywood Boulevard, McCartney and his band performed “Save Us,” “Everybody Out There” and the first single, “New,” from the Oct. 15 release on Concord in addition to the standards “Let It Be,” “Hey Jude” and “Band on the Run.” Fans who showed up early got an extra treat as McCartney and the band performed a 12-song sound check around 4 in the afternoon.
