Extra is done with dancing waters. Bring on King Kong.
The syndicated Hollywood news show, the second-longest-running of its kind, is relocating from the outdoor Los Angeles shopping environment known as The Grove to Universal Studios Hollywood for the start of its 20th season.

Hosted by Mario Lopez (also host of Fox’s The X Factor) and Maria Menounos, the celeb-focused strip will broadcast from a variety of locations around Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk, home of the Studio Tour, one of L.A.’s most popular tourist destinations.
Those visitors will be able to participate in daily tapings, where they can get close to stars and interact with the hosts. Among celebrity guests scheduled for appearances in the month of September are Hugh Jackman, Vin Diesel and Sofia Vergara.
“We are thrilled to partner with Universal Studios Hollywood which symbolizes everything Extra is about,” says senior executive producer Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey in a statement. “It’s a place people go to be a part of the Hollywood experience and that’s what we do on Extra.”

“As the broadcast headquarters for this very exciting venture with Extra, we are thrilled about the unimaginable opportunities that our guests will have when they visit us,” adds Larry Kurzweil, president of Universal Studios Hollywood and CityWalk.
New for season 20 is a recurring feature called “Ride the Headlines,” in which Extra hosts pop up at a virtual roller-coaster ride to quiz park attendees on “hot gossip items.”
“It will be an action-packed segment where we will ride the headlines of the day,” a statement reads, without further explanation.
