SONG OF STEEL: Add comic book fan Chris Daughtry to the list of artists — including Donovan, Barbra Streisand, Eminem and Five for Fighting — who have recorded songs with the Man of Steel’s name in the title. Daughtry, who has been known to dress as Batman at Comic-Con, is a co-writer of the first single from his group’s forthcoming album, Baptized. “Waiting for Superman” makes multiple Billboard chart debuts this week, including a No. 70 bow on the Hot 100.
The new single, which also name checks Lois Lane, is the 11th by the band Daughtry to chart on the Hot 100. Their run began the week of Dec. 9, 2006, when “It’s Not Over” bowed. That song is their biggest hit to date, with a peak of No. 4. With the debut of the new single, Daughtry’s chart span stretches to six years and 10 months.

“Waiting for Superman” also debuts on Hot Digital Songs at No. 26, on Hot Digital Tracks at No. 25, and the Canadian Hot 100 at No. 93.
WINNING STREAK: For the fifth week in a row, there are new No. 1s by Idols to report. It is the longest consecutive run of new chart-toppers since April-May 2012. During the five weeks beginning April 27, 2012, there were six new No. 1s. In the last five weeks, there have been 10.
The latest additions to the list of No. 1s are from Mandisa and Fantasia. Last week, Mandisa’s single “Overcomer” took over the lead position on Christian Songs and remains there for a second week. The track now claims first place on Christian Adult Contemporary and is Mandisa’s 21st Billboard No. 1.
