Osgood “Oz” Perkins will direct his 2012 Blood List script February for Revolver Picture Company and Unbroken Pictures.
Set at an all-girls boarding school, the thriller tells the story of two women bound together by a series of sinister events.
Perkins is no stranger to genre films — he’s the son of the late actor Anthony Perkins, star of Alfred Hitchcock‘s iconic Psycho. The younger Perkins is named after his grandfather, a noted stage and movie actor.
February marks Oz Perkins’ debut directorial effort. An actor himself, his credits include Legally Blonde and Six Degrees of Separation. His first acting role was in Psycho II (1983), playing a 12-year-old version of Norman Bates, the same character played by his father in Psycho.
Revolver, launched by Kelly Wagner and Nick Phillips, will fully finance and co-produce February with Unbroken. Producers are Wagner, Phillips and Unbroken’s Adrienne Biddle and Bryan Bertino. Chris Armogida from Unbroken will serve as associate producer.
“Oz’s script combines tension and tone with an extremely unique twist on a concept that has always had a rich legacy in the horror genre. We couldn’t be more excited about our collaboration with Revolver to help us bring Oz’s directorial debut to life,” Biddle and Bertino said.
Added Phillips and Wagner: “As soon as we read Oz’s script, we knew he was a unique talent and that we had to make this film.”
February expands Revolver’s growing profile. Earlier this month, IFC Midnight scooped up U.S. rights to Haunt, a supernatural thriller produced by Revolver, QED International and Rivergate Entertainment. And next month, Revolver and Elevative Entertainment’s psychological horror film Beneath will open the Screamfest Horror Film Festival in L.A.
Perkins is represented by Paradigm, Gramercy Park Entertainment and Lichter Grossman.
