LONDON – Detroit-set TV crime thriller Low Winter Sun, starring Mark Strong, will debut on the Sundance Channel in Europe and Asia.
AMC/Sundance Channel Global, the international division of AMC Networks, said it will debut the drama on the Sundance Channel.
The series currently airs on Sunday nights after Breaking Bad on AMC in the U.S. A contemporary story of murder, deception, revenge and corruption in a world where the line between cops and criminals is blurred, the show begins with an act of retribution — the murder of a dirty cop by a fellow Detroit detective (Strong).
AMC/Sundance Channel Global president Bruce Tuchman detailed the deal for the co-production between AMC Studios and Endemol Studios.
It will be available on the Sundance Channel in Central and Eastern Europe, Iberia and Asia in the coming months.
Tuchman said: “Our advanced rights offering enables us to work closely with operators to provide globally renowned entertainment easily across all authenticated on demand services. We look forward to showcasing the best programming from AMC Networks, along with providing other exclusive series and independent films to audiences worldwide.”
Endemol Worldwide Distribution chief executive Cathy Payne added: “Having already developed a great affiliation with AMC Networks through working together on Hell on Wheels, we’re extremely pleased to extend the relationship and bring Low Winter Sun to audiences across Central and Eastern Europe, Iberia and Asia.”

Low Winter Sun is executive produced by showrunner and writer Chris Mundy (Criminal Minds) and is based on the award-winning British miniseries of the same name.
Filmed on location in Detroit, the show also stars Lennie James (The Walking Dead), Ruben Santiago-Hudson (Their Eyes Were Watching God), Athena Karkanis and James Ransone.
In addition to Mundy, the series is co-executive produced by Dave Erickson and Rolin Jones.
Sundance Channel is available to pay TV operators as a standard- and high-definition linear television channel, VOD service and via mobile and online authenticated streaming.
