Oscar-winning editor Michael Kahn, Steven Spielberg’s longtime collaborator, has been hired to work on Pele, the biopic about the legendary Brazilian soccer player.
Michael Zimbalist and Jeff Zimbalist direct the pic, which just wrapped shooting in Brazil. The film chronicles Pele’s rise from the slums of Sao Paulo to international stardom when, as a 17-year-old, he led Brazil to its first World Cup victory in 1958.

Vincent D’Onofrio, Rodrigo Santoro, Diego Boneta, Colm Meaney and Seu Jorge star in the film.
Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and Seine Pictures’ Ivan Orlic are producing, with Kim Roth and Colin Wilson executive producing. Exclusive media is handling foreign sales, while domestic rights for the film are jointly repped by CAA and WME.
Kahn is best known for his more than 30-year working relationship with Spielberg. He’s the most nominated editor in Academy Awards history with eight, and has won three Oscars for best film editing. His most recent projects include Lincoln, War Horse and The Adventures of Tintin.
