Disney’s Planes is departing the runway with a star-studded selection of vocal talent.
The studio announced that the animated family movie, described as being an airborne version of Cars, has added to its vocal cast, including Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), Cedric the Entertainer (Barbershop), Val Kilmer (Top Gun), and John Cleese (A Fish Called Wanda).
STORY: Dane Cook to Star in Disney Animated Film ‘Planes’
The animated title, which stars comedian Dane Cook as an afraid-of-heights airplane that aspires to be a racer, features Louis-Dreyfus as Rochelle, “a tough and confident racer,” Cedric the Entertainer as “a puttering old biplane” and Kilmer and fellow Top Gun actor Anthony Edwards as jet airplanes.
Stacy Keach (Bourne Legacy), Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond), Teri Hatcher (Coraline), Carlos Alazraqui (Reno 911), Priyanka Chopra (Barfi), Roger Craig Smith (Marvel’s Avenger’s Assemble), Gabriel Iglesias (Stand-up Revolution), Oliver Kalkofe (Neues vom Wixxer), and comedian Sinbad were also announced as part of the cast.
The film also added the vocal talents of ESPN talent Colin Cowherd, who will play Colin Cowling, “an affable blimp and an eye-in-the-sky reporter,” and Brent Musburger as a Ford mustang broadcaster.
Planes, directed by Klay Hall (King of the Hill), is scheduled for release on August 9.
