Revisit Atlanta in the March Perspectives

AHA Staff | Mar 8, 2007

March issue of PerspectivesThe March issue of Perspectives contains numerous articles on the AHA’s 121st Annual Meeting in Atlanta. Read a detailed overview of annual meeting events in Debbie Ann Doyle and Pillarisetti Sudhir’s “The 121st Annual Meeting: A Retrospective.” In case you missed it, Chris Hale sums up The AHA’s First Film Festival, which consisted of a variety of films, including two audience favorites: Nuremberg: The Nazis Facing Their Crimes and The U.S. vs. John Lennon. Meanwhile, David Darlington reports on the numbers at the Job Register, while Sharon K. Tune lists recipients of awards presented at the annual meeting.

This issue covers many recent Council decisions, including support for the addition of history to the No Child Left Behind Act, Guiding Principles on Taking a Public Stance, and a resolution opposing “Free Speech Zones,” to name a few.

Linda Shopes, E. Taylor Atkins, and Zachary M. Schrag contribute to a forum on historians and Institutional Review Boards. Kelly Schrum, Eleanor Greene, and Sarah Whelan reflect on working with primary and secondary teachers as part of the Teaching American History Grants Program. You’ll also find AHA President Barbara Weinstein’s column, news from the history profession, events from our affiliates, and much more. So check out the March issue of Perspectives, now online.
