A new Merlin movie has cast a spell at Warner Bros. with a unique recipe.
The studio has picked up the fantasy project for Donald De Line to produce, but it comes with two writers who haven’t worked together.
EXCLUSIVE: Warner Bros. Conjures ‘Merlin’ Tentpole With Novice Screenwriting Wizard
On one side of The Round Table is David Farr (Paradigm, the U.K.’s Curtis Brown Group), best known for co-writing the well-regarded Saoirse Ronan thriller Hanna. On the other side is Dave Hill (CAA, Management 360, Hansen Jacobson), an assistant to Game of Thrones executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss who has written a very strong Thrones sample.
The studio and De Line had been taking pitches for the Merlin project and liked aspects of both Farr’s and Hill’s takes on the powerful wizard. Sources say the two were resistant to collaborating until a phone conference resulted in a lovefest, and the team-up was secured.
