VANCOUVER – Remstar Films has acquired the Canadian rights to the Tom Hanks-produced Parkland and the Charlize Theron-starring and -produced thriller Dark Places.
The indie distributor plans a fall 2013 release for Parkland, which recalls events at Dallas’ Parkland hospital on the day John F. Kennedy was assassinated.
Parkland stars Zac Efron, Paul Giamatti, Jacki Weaver and Billy Bob Thornton.
Remstar also prebought Dark Places, which starts shooting in August, for a 2014 release.
The film sees Theron play the sole survivor of a home invasion that led to the death of her mother and sisters.
The thriller also stars Nicholas Hoult and Chloe Grace Moretz.
