Playing mother and daughter, Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts spar and squabble in the trailer for August: Osage County, the starry big-screen adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning play written by Tracy Letts.
The dark dramedy, slated for release Nov. 8, is directed by John Wells and also stars Sam Shepard, Chris Cooper, Ewan McGregor, Abigail Breslin, Benedict Cumberbatch and Juliette Lewis.
It tells the story of a dysfunctional family that gathers together in Oklahoma after patriarch Beverly (Shephard) commits suicide. Streep is his widow, Violet, a combative and cancer-stricken woman who baits Barbara (Roberts) during an especially dramatic scene at the dinner table.
