Sales of automobiles in the U.S. are creeping closer to their pre-recession pace.
According to Autodata Corp, U.S. auto sellers moved 16.1 million cars in 2007, right before the economy tanked. The figure hasn’t been matched since that time. But sales are projected to reach 15.8 million this year, a solid improvement over the past few years.
The improvement corresponds with Americans climbing their way our of the mortgage and credit card crises. Plus, many people who held on to old cars during the recession are ready to replace them rather than pay for repairs.
