Thor: The Dark World is already popular with women, but could it have done more to capture that demographic?
Jimmy Kimmel has unveiled a trailer for Thor Actually, which recasts the Marvel Studios film as a romantic comedy.
The movie centers on Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who “was looking for love in all the wrong places, until a blast from the past came out of nowhere to sweep her off her feet.”

At the box office, an impressive 48 percent of Friday’s audience comprised women and teen girls, compared to 40 percent for Iron Man 3 in May. The dual appeal of Portman and Chris Hemsworth are credited with the unusually high female interest in the superhero film.
The film brought in $31.6 million at the domestic box office Friday, and may reach $300 million globally by Sunday.
