TV Land‘s Kirstie is doing its part to stage as many Cheers and Seinfeld reunions as it can.
George Wendt has been tapped to guest-star on the upcoming comedy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
The series centers on Madison Banks (Cheers’ Kirstie Alley), a Broadway star who finds her life turned upside down when her son (Eric Petersen) suddenly appears, looking to reconnect with his biological mother after his adopted mom dies. Cheers star Rhea Perlman plays Madison’s trusted assistant and best friend, while Seinfeld‘s Michael Richards portrays Alley’s eccentric driver.

Wendt, who famously played Norm Peterson for more than 250 episodes of Cheers, will portray Duke Bainbridge, Thelma’s (Perlman) ex-husband, a flashy professional pool player who cheated on her relentlessly when they were married. When he comes to visit claiming he’s “changed,” Thelma is ready to forgive and forget but Maddie (Alley) isn’t.
Wendt’s previous guest turns have included Frasier, Wings, The Tortellis and St. Elsewhere, as well as voice roles on The Simpsons and Family Guy — on which he reprised his role as Norm. He’s repped by The Gage Group and Brillstein Entertainment.
The casting comes after TV Land announced this week that Jason Alexander will guest-star as Alley’s Broadway agent. He’s set to reunite with Richards and film the episode in late June.
A premiere date for Kirstie has not yet been announced.
