TORONTO — Rookie Blue‘s Missy Peregrym is toplining Backcountry, the feature debut from writer-director Adam MacDonald.
The thriller also stars Jeff Roop in the Canadian indie about a young couple who find themselves lost and without food and water in the wilderness, with only one being a seasoned camper.

Peregrym, who plays Andy McNally on Rookie Blue, also starred in the Yahoo web drama Cybergeddon.
Backcountry is shooting through Nov. 6 in North Bay, Ontario, as well as Toronto and Vancouver.
The film, produced by Fella Films’ Thomas Michael, is slated for release in 2014 and will be distributed in Canada by D Films.
U.S. and international sales will be handled by Event Film.
