Food for the Intellect

Robert B. Townsend | May 2, 2007

Judging from the faculty listings in the AHA Directory, you might think that intellectual history had fallen on hard times. But the evidence in the blogosphere suggests otherwise. The Journal of the History of Ideas just opened up an interesting blog that features among other luminaries AHA vice president Anthony Grafton (who expressed his enthusiasm for the blogosphere in the most recent issue of Perspectives).

Anyone interested in more local approaches to the subject should check out U.S. Intellectual History, another group blog that has already developed an intriguing array of commentary and book reviews in just its first three months online.

Finally, Richard Cox’s “Reading Archives” blog offers regular reviews of historical work, usually looking at the connection between archives and ideas.
